Trail Riding


Tuscany is a unique destination for horse riding with wine, medieval castles, vineyards and thick forests to explore.

Castellare di Tonda offers trail rides through our  private game reserve and vineyards exclusively for our clients.

For those looking to experience more of the countryside, we explore further afield utilizing a network of spectacular trails that exploreTuscany’s magnificent landscape.

We offer a variety of packages to suit all levels in addition to one or two-hour rides. Please note that the minimum age for trail riding is 14.

We offer one or two-hour rides and a variety of packages to suit all interests.

1 hour trail ride 45 euros

2 hour trail ride 80 euros

Please note that, in the interests of your safety, we request that all of our riders take a 30 minute lesson beforehand, at a cost of 24 euros. This is in order to verify that we can ride out in safety, and to ensure the best possible experience for our riders and horses.

Medieval Tuscany: 

Suitable for intermediate to advanced riders

The most adventurous of our riding packages, it includes c. 20 hours of riding in total.

Sunday: 2 hour trail ride in the morning, 2 hour trail ride in the afternoon

Monday: Day ride with picnic

Tuesday: Day ride with picnic

Wednesday: Non-riding day

Thursday: Day ride with picnic

Friday: 2 hour trail ride in the morning, 2 hour trail ride in the afternoon

 Raxed Riding Week:

Suitable for novice to advanced riders

This consists of 12 hours of riding in total, divided into 6 x 2 hour morning trail rides, leaving afternoons free to relax by the pool or visit the surrounding towns. The relaxed riding week can also be a mix of trail rides and lessons, depending on availability.

Train and Trail:

Suitable for intermediate to advanced level riders

Our Train and Trail program consists of 15 hours of riding and is a combination package of technical western lessons with our trainer Franco and  2 hour trail rides into the surrounding countryside.

Franco will teach you techniques to help you comunicate better with your horse, regardless of the discipline. The exact lesson program will be decided by Franco based on your riding ability and interests, and could include: mastering the four different reins in Western riding, body position, transitions,  flexation, lead changes, collection at the lope, speed control, lateral work, loose rein circles, backing, creating cadence with the horse, keeping the forehand light, sliding stops and spin work.
